I drop bombs on complexity to drive impact & team efficiency.

Jillian Milja (jill • ian meal • yuh):
Product Designer. Adventure-seeker. Boisterous laugher. Outdoor aficionado.

My M.O. is to leave things better than I found them. Never one to be confined by ladders, I intentionally craft my career to inspire new perspectives and add richness to the experiences I get to co-create.

My experience in growth drives an insatiable curiosity and experimentation with a bias-for-impact. As a founding designer, I developed a strategic resourcefulness in having end-to-end ownership and implementing processes. I also have a background in business law and, in college, studied the intersection of human behavior and social systems.

At my core, I’m an impact-oriented product designer with an entrepreneurial drive to make beautiful things simply work better for the customers I serve.

“She consistently creates thoughtful and user-centric experiences that resonate with our audience. Her designs are meticulously documented in Figma files, allowing for seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing. She promptly addresses problems and proactively steps in when needed, showcasing her dedication to finding solutions. Her ability to maintain a positive attitude, even in challenging situations, is a testament to her resilience and professionalism.”

Manager, Apartment List

“She takes on a lot of responsibility coordinating across several stakeholders on matters that are not only complicated, but also high profile. She does a great job inventing and learning by looking for places to make our processes better. She also regularly seeks divergent perspectives in the work she does."

Manager, Block

She’s very positive — embodies what I would like to see in others — asks for feedback, comfortable with change and trying new things, and looks for ways to improve process and product.”

Cross-functional collaborator, Firstbase

“She finds creative ways to streamline processes that would benefit the team as a whole. Although we were peers, I saw her more as a mentor. She has a curiosity, excitement, and passion about helping others and making a difference in what she does.”

Teammate, Block

“She is described as a breath of fresh air who consistently delivers high-quality work and displays resilience in her approach. Her willingness to take calculated risks demonstrates her ownership and confidence.”

Manager, Apartment List

“Jillian has been a designer at Apartment List for about half a year. She's hit the ground running handling an extremely challenging project with an even heavier deadline. She’s always ready for user studies, data reads, and qualitative reviews. I've been really impressed with her resilience here, how she's able to steer the team into the story she wants to push out to the renters and how well she improves things that didn't work.”

Leadership Award, Apartment List

“I found her to have an energy and presence that is almost unparalleled. As her manager, I found that she brought a fresh perspective to the table. She is also not afraid to challenge the status quo. As my former professor once said, ‘You have to move the furniture around in order to provoke new insights.’ She does exactly that. In summary, she is astute, trustworthy, creative, thoughtful, and insightful.”

Manager, Citigroup

“She’s succeeded in helping us establish the Design practice at Firstbase; brought our design system into existence, shaped the foundations for our entire app, and has cast a compelling vision for the future.”
